I confess I'm kind of а gourmand... (guilty as charged). As a teenager I had a problem with overeating due to emotional disorder. I managed to loose the gained weight, but every now and then (mostly NOW!) I need something to chew on. Three years ago, I started looking more into the food I eat. I began reading the food labels and ever since I try really hard to avoid unpronounceable ingredients, preservatives, E-s, etc.

My (Not) Spring Cleaning Tips
Spring starts tomorrow! Yay! Fresh green grass, clean air, blooming trees. Also this puts the start of the seasonal a.k.a. spring cleaning! Frankly, I don't understand the logic of it - so I am suppose to not maintain my home the whole winter and then make it shine in one day? I'd rather do a task every week than to perform something with the intensity of end of tenancy cleaning, when I can take a walk in a sunny day.
Ok, enough ranting. I'll share some of my cleaning tricks - not spring, rather those extra few things I do monthly or fortnightly.

Stain Removal Guide - Techniques for Cleaning Fabrics, Upholstery and Carpet
Stains are not hard to remove, if you know what to do and act as soon as possible. It is essential to understand the logic behind every stain cleaning technique, so you can properly handle any spotty situation.
1. Gently blotting (not rubbing) /For splatters and spills/ - Usually performed with a clean dry white cloth or paper towel while the stain is still fresh. This removes excess to prevent further smear. Work it from edge towards the centre of the stain.
2. Brushing off /For dried mud and other gunk/ - If the stain had dried, this step is to be done before any other treatment. Perform with a clothes brush, for small stains and delicate fabrics use a clean toothbrush. Do light wispy one-way stroke motions, no hard rubbing back and forth.

How I Do My Laundry Like A Pro
Washing and ironing are not my favourites things to do, but I prefer them over hand-washing and spending loads on dry cleaners. This made me develop a pre-laundry or more of a shopping strategy - to buy clothes that are machine-washable. Well, that's not always the case, but modern front-loading washing machines have a "hand-washable woollens" cycle, which is gentle enough for hand-wash-only clothes. Here are the rest of my tips.
